Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, also known as President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Mausoleum of uncle Ho – in Vietnamese we call “ Lang Bac Ho” which is the temple to keep the remain of President Ho Chi Minh. Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is officially started to build in the September 2, 1973, it was based on the former location of Ba Dinh Square where Ho Chi Minh President had presided the important meetings and events in the past time, paticularly for reading the declaration of independent and freedom of Vietnam in the semptember 2, 1945.
Mausoleum was inaugurated on August 29, 1975. The mausoleum consists of 3 layers with a height of 21.6 meters, the midle layer is room to keep Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum’s remain and corridors. Around the four sides are square columns with marble, the top layer is a roof prism three levels. In the front of Mausoleum with the sentence: "President Ho Chi Minh". In his will, Ho Chi Minh wanted to be cremated and the ashes placed in three regions of Vietnam (North, Center and South). However, the Communist Party of Vietnam decided to preserve the long term for Ho Chi Minh president’s remains, especially people in the South, Young gernation of Vietnam and international visitors can get to visit Ucle Ho.
Nowsday, each week, more than 15,000 people to visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Many individuals and organizations to visit the Mausoleum on holidays and important anniversaries of Vietnam.
Mausoleum does not charge admission and visitors are required to follow the requirements as dressed up, not bring cameras, cell phones with camera functions, taking pictures, turn off the phone, do not carry food drink and keep order while visiting.
As of 2012, there were nearly 50 million people to visit the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh, of which more than 8 million international visitors. For visitors from afar, the organization of the lodging is done carefully, wholeheartedly. The snacks, refreshments, cold resistant, speacial service to seriously-wounded soliders and the elderly visited are studied carefully organized.
Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is open 5 days a week, on Tuesday morning, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The hot season (from 1-4 to 31-10): From 7:30 to 10:30; cold season (from 1-11 to 31-3 years): From 8:00 to 11:00. For the holidays, Saturdays, Sundays open for more 30 minutes. Annually Mausoleum closed for renovations for 2 months: October and Novenber. On 19/5, 2/9 and the first day of Tet Holiday falls on a Monday or if Friday, still opening for visiting Ho Chi Minh President Mausoleum.
